20. Takoi

”The flavor combinations here are amazing. They are very accommodating to vegan/vegetarian diets. I'm vegan and there are always 10-12 things on the menu to pick from. It's great to come here with my non-vegan friends but still feel like I can partake in an awesome meal! Expect to spend at least $50 to try a few dishes and have a drink. Completely worth the price in my opinion!”— Laura F. on Yelp

“I used to come here and do work during the week, grab a coffee and a vegan breakfast sandwich. Within the past year there's been a few changes in the menu and floor plan, but it's still a great place to eat and grab a coffee. My husband and I went on a Sunday and had the blueberry pancakes, grits, breakfast sandwich and chai latte. All were great! I love the books that they have there as well.”— Ashleigh J. on Yelp

17. Cold Truth
4240 Cass Ave., Suite 100, Detroit; 313-680-1199; coldtruthsoftserve.com
”I drooled over photos of Cold Truth soft serve for weeks before finally venturing out to get some. With that much build up, reality doesn't always live up to expectations- but in this case, Cold Truth was even better than I imagined. The chocolate soft serve was the luscious, creamy texture I'm always pining for (and it was VEGAN!), and the lemon curd was refreshing with a delicious punch from the mulberries. Oh, and did I mention that their cones are vegan and gluten free, and I couldn't even tell! I'll be back for sure.” — Erin S. on Yelp

16. Harmonie Garden Cafe
4704 Anthony Wayne Dr., Detroit; 313-638-2345; facebook.com/harmonie-garden-cafe
“This is such a hidden gem. Affordable great eats, great friendly staff, little gold mine for vegans. Decided to go in on a whim after coming back from the bottom line coffee house. My friend I was with was surprised as they'd been here before and raved about it. We decided to split a vegan Zahra, which is like a sautéed cauliflower with onions which was really tasty, love the sauce the cauliflower was in. The hummus and pita it came with was also really tasty and definitely nice for like $12(?) We also had the pina colada vegan cake which was REALLY good. I haven't had a pina colada before myself but this was like a vanilla fruity cake with coconut creamy frosting. It was about $3-4? I was a little bummed they used the cake from the walk in cooler just because of the packaging but it was still super delicious. The staff was nothing but kind to us, can definitely see myself coming back again for some vegan Mediterranean goodness and sweets!!!” —Stone Z. on Yelp

I had the vegan ramen and it was delicious! I didn't miss the meat at all. Very flavorful and filling. Plus you can see them making the noodles and the prices were excellent. 13. Dilla’s Delights
242 John R, Detroit; 313- 346-3771; dillasdelights.com
“This place is a hidden gem and a total delight. The donuts are absolutely delicious - you can tell they're all hand cut since no two donuts look the same haha. They offer up classic donuts but also vegan ones - win! The vegan sweet potato one I had tried stole the show for me. The lemon glazed donut (not vegan) was also delicious - you could see the bits of zest in there. I definitely recommend folks stop in here and get your donuts. The two ladies working the day I was there were so friendly and let us try a few new flavors they had since it was our first time in. Support small businesses — stop into Dilla's!” —Aparna B. on Yelp

“WHERE DO I BEGIN? First of all. The pizza? SLAPS. Those frickin onion rings? A gift from the GODS. The salads? Enough to feed an army. THE CAAARRROTTTTS?!? The only thing that could get me to eat purely vegetables for the rest of my life. I don't even need to go further on the food because this place has bomb EVERYTHING. I'd also like to give a big round of applause for this place (who opened about a month before this crazy pandemic hit Detroit) for selflessly giving back to their community (feeding folks at Alternatives for girls, for one) and making sure that during all of this uncertainty, they offered up great food at prices that serve actual Detroiters. M&T, you're a true gem in this city and I hope to see more spots open like this. :)” —Nicole M. on Yelp
