This Brooklyn-born rapper made his debut way back in 1995. Three years later he’d reconnect with his friend Mos Def to form the rap duo Black Star. Their debut album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star garnered both critical acclaim and mainstream success, but that wasn’t enough to keep the two together. After releasing the record, they parted ways. Now, Kweli peforms as a solo artist and operates his own label, BlackSmith Records under Warner Bros. Records. He’ll perform with Jessica Care Moore.
