Superman — 40th Anniversary Screening

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s one of the greatest superhero films of all time. Long before superstud Henry Cavill slipped into his iconic blue spandex, the role of our beloved Man of Steel was solely synonymous with the late Christopher Reeve. The 1978 film stars Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando, and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, and chronicles the crash landing of Krypton cutie Kal-El. What unfolds is Reeves’ transformation into the poorly disguised (but still super babely) journalist Clark Kent, and eventually, his transition into Superman. Perhaps the biggest star of the film, however, is its use of practical effects and full-scale sets, which still manage to blow modern CGI out of this universe.
