Streetopia

When: Tue., Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m. 2016
Art meets activism as Erick Lyle, writer, musician, activist, and zine editor, brings Streetopia, an anti-gentrification anthology, to Detroit. Art can make big changes, and Lyle’s hope is that his anthology sparks discussion about mutual aid organization and the politics surrounding displacement and gentrification. With the addition of essays and art from Detroiters and organizers, this is definitely a conversation you won’t want to miss. Runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; 2120 Russell St., Detroit; booklyn.org; admission is free, but donations will be accepted to go toward Old St. John’s as well as defraying Erick’s travel costs.
