Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold

Employing “scientific tools,” a choir, and a random selection of audience members, “Sister” unfolds the mystery of whatever the hell happened to that gold the Magi delivered to the baby Jesus — after all, we know Mary used the Frankincense and Myrrh to counteract the stench of animal waste in that stanky barn. This retelling of the Nativity story probably isn’t what you’re used to, but you’re much more likely to giggle than during the annual Christmas sermon. This performance is the last of the year, but Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold regularly returns to City Theatre each holiday season.

Powerful Lake Erie wave photos show the wilder side of our Great Lake

Metro Detroiters might think the waves on Lake Erie small and relatively unnoteworthy. On windy days, choppy waters draw the occasional surfer…

By Vince Grzegorek

“It was during an intense wind storm in the fall of 2014 that I first witnessed the powerful waves Lake Erie can generate. Lake Erie is the shallowest and the warmest of the five Great Lakes. And the waves I capture on this lake are generally two-fold. There are the main lake waves, which are generated from strong winds that whip up the water, and there are secondary waves that are created when these waves crash into barriers near the shoreline.”
