Sinkane

It’s no surprise that a London-born, Sudanese-raised, Ohio-based musician would be a weaver of a remarkably eclectic musical tapestry. Sinkane (born Ahmed Gallab) fuses krautrock, electronica, jazz, funk, and Sudanese pop with a totally unidentifiable smoothness that is 100 percent his own. And 2017 has been a big year for Sinkane, too. Not only did he make his television debut on Conan but Gallab also released a limited six-track LP with supergroup Atomic Bomb! Band (featuring members of Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Beastie Boys, and Antibalas) where they cover music by Nigerian funk musician William Onyeabor. Check this shit out.

Doors open at 8 p.m.; 4114 Vernor Hwy., Detroit; 313-436-1793; elclubdetroit.com; Tickets are $15.
