You know when you’re watching a documentary on your favorite underground music subject and all of a sudden Henry Rollins, Bono, and the guy from the Foo Fighters pop up and say something trite and you want to put your fist through the door? Well, two out of those three are more than likely to appear in this documentary, but that’s of course because they were actually a part of the scene. Salad Days is a better than average music documentary about a much better-than-average scene: D.C. punk. Salad Days was done at the right time, it was done really well, and there are enough surprises and rare footage to warrant your time and money. It could have used more Void, but we could all say that about everything (even Void’s own limited output).
