Records, more records, and Record Store DayWe'd be lying if we said we didn't have Record Store Day in mind when we decided to feature Royal Oak's UHF in Retail Detail this week. For the handful of years this place has been open, the guys behind the shop (Scotty Hagen, Tommy Dorr, and Jeff Bubeck, if we're naming names) have put together quite the spread in honor of the holiday. This year on Saturday, April 18, customers will be treated to exclusive releases, a chance to win records, tickets, and, merchandise, plus free performances from Moonwalks, Danny Kroha, and the Muggs. It all starts at 9 a.m., and the shop doesn't close until 8 p.m.

Lest we forget, UHF is a worthy destination the other 364 days a year too. The well-kept store features valuable collectibles, rare imports, and even original pressings. Of course, you don't have to be a record-collecting snob to love this place. They also carry new releases if you're looking to pick up something brand new on vinyl. Their collection includes CDs and Blu-ray discs too. Want something other than big names and vintage finds? They also carry plenty of local indie music. Their stock includes music magazines like Alternative Press, Zero Tolerance, Modern Drummer, Indie Slate, and Thrasher. They also get Archie Jumbo Comics and are known to carry tickets to local concert venues like UFO Factory and Modern Skate Park. We heard they've even got a couple Movement tickets available with no service fees.
