This is interesting. New Yorker Richard Sontaag joins forces with UK rock journo Ian Fortnam, the duo work on a record for a couple of years, and then Youth from Killing Joke produces it. There’s a concept to the record — something about the ancients synthesizing essential energy from harmonic sound. If that all sounds a bit KLF (remember the “Justified Ancients of Mu Mu?”), that’s because it is. Tangerine Dream and Zodiac Mindwarp are other references on what is ultimately a schizophrenic head fuck of an album, switching between ambient electronica and crunchy hard rock, while sticking to that gloriously ridiculous storyline.
