Peace on — If you couldn’t make it to D.C. for the massive anti-war rally staged there a few weeks back well ... you missed it, and nothing is going to equal that big deal. But there’s still a chance to add your voice to the peace chorus. There’s a protest being staged out at Oakland University in Rochester at 2-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7. Campus Greens are putting the event on. They’ve invited students from other Michigan universities to attend. They’d like to see you there too. 248-613-5970.

How sweet are you? — Now that we have your attention, if you have type 2 diabetes, the chances are that your blood sugar is not under control. That’s according to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. A free A1C test, which measures a person’s average blood sugar levels over the previous two to three months, will help change that. The test, which is usually given in a doctor’s office, will be given for free 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Southland Center, 23000 Eureka Rd., Taylor. Screening will be held in the West Court.

Also appearing will be Dr. David Apsey of Physicians for a National Health Plan. Apsey will talk about how a national health plan helps doctors, employers and workers. A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Call Al Cholger at 248-414-9291.
