Photorealism
Since the invention of photography in the early 19th century, artists have used the camera as a tool in picture making; however, many kept their use of photography a secret as it could be construed as "artistic cheating." In contrast, Photorealists embraced the precision and accuracy of the camera and unabashedly referenced photographs in their art.
