Pelican

Sometimes you just need to sip on a strong cocktail and listen to some hardcore post-punk rock to get you through you day, and that’s OK, Pelican is here for you. The quartet from Des Plaines, Illinois has been making a ruckus since 2001 when they released their first EP. Since then, their sound has evolved to almost only instrumental at times, using distorted guitar sounds and heavy bass and drums.

Doors at 7 p.m.; 22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale; 248-820-5596; thelovingtouchferndale.com; Tickets are $15.
