Fifty years ago, during the Summer of Love, a music festival called the Monterey International Pop Festival helped launch the careers of then little-known artists Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Otis Redding. A year later a groundbreaking documentary titled simply Monterey Pop explored these artists’ meteoric rise to fame. Now, the Detroit Film Theatre will screen a recently remastered 4K version of the film.
