Mind-blowing desserts that we can't get enough of in the Detroit area

While Detroit might be known as the "Motor City," we've got other things going for us, too. The city and surrounding suburbs are all flush with new restaurants, and along with them come delectable treats that really satisfy our sweet tooth. Check out the spectacular sugary concoctions available all over town.

Holy moly. Co-owner Christopher Garrido was experimenting one day and these shake creations are what he came up with. The shakes are as delicious as they look, and that’s the point. The Rockin Reese’s includes a peanut butter shake, ice cream sandwich, Reese’s ice cream cake, and a chocolate ice cream taco. Other flavors include Pistachio Perfection and Strawberry Supreme, among others. We want to try them all.

Cannelle’s plum tart arrives with ribbons of lively, shaved plum arranged atop a small pie holding a creamy, mellowing custard. The French patisserie is run by Matt Knio, who built his reputation as one of the region’s best pastry chefs with Cannelle’s Birmingham location, before recently opening a second shop in downtown Detroit’s Capitol Park.
