It seems like just about every election year, we’re told this is “the most important one yet.” But this year, there’s some truth to that claim as we approach the first big election since the one that gave us Donald Trump.

The 2018 midterms are largely expected to serve as a rebuke on Trump’s presidency, as pollsters predict a “Blue Wave” that will flip Republican-held congressional seats to Democratic control. Many of those seats could also go to women, as female candidates galvanized in part by the Women’s March and #MeToo movement are running in unprecedented numbers, mostly as Democrats.

A lot is at stake, from proposals that would legalize pot and un-rig elections, to picking the next governor of the state. Here, we break it all down to help you make sense of it all before you head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
