Thursday, 6/2 -
Miike Snow, Muna
@ Majestic Theatre -
$35 will provide plenty of bang for your bucks at this show. Rather, it will provide plenty of bounce, as there is sure to be a lot of dancing once Miike Snow takes the stage. The Swedish pop band has been churning out catchy hits since 2007, the most recent being a collaboration with hip-hop geniuses Run the Jewels titled “Heart Is Full,” a remix of the single for their newest album iii. Catch them now or later this summer on the festival circuit.
Doors at 8 p.m.; 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit, 48201; $35.

C.W. Stoneking
@ Magic Bag -
Do you have the blues bug? The Magic Bag has the cure for it. Bringing his blue style straight from down under (you know, Australia) is C.W. Stoneking. A blues musician since his teens, Stoneking taught himself how to play banjo, guitar, and the dobro. With a great stage presence and an iconic look (white suit, bowtie, and slicked-back hair), Stoneking has made a unique imprint on the blues scene. His latest album Gon’ Boogaloo is set for release here on June 3.
Doors at 8 p.m.; 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale; themagicbag.com; Tickets are $14.

Friday, 6/3 -
Lynch Mob
@ Token Lounge -
Formed in the late 1980s by George Lynch, as we all know the band is pretty much the reincarnation of his first band, the highly influential Dokken. If you’re deeply interested in rocking out hard to loud music with the most insane of crazed guitar riffs, this show is likely already at the top of your Friday night to-do list.
Doors at 7 p.m.; 28949 Joy Rd., Westland; thetokenlounge.com; Tickets are $20.

‘Lives of the Poets
(With Guitars)’
@ Ditto Ditto
While the idea that any singer-songwriters might also be called poets is quaint as heck in 2016, Ray Robertson is such a strong writer that his musings on “13 outsiders who changed modern music” carries the premise through with humor and (most importantly) irreverence. That’s right, this is a book reading, from an already-acclaimed book about such heroes from the dark end of the street as Townes Van Zandt, Ronnie Lane, Rosetta Tharpe, and the Ramones. It’s not an average reading though; Danny Kroha, Kelly Caldwell, Aran Ruth, and others will sing songs by those poet-people.
Starts around 5 p.m.; 1548 Trumbull Ave., Detroit; dittoditto.org; Free, but maybe drop by with a few beverages to share.

Sunday, 6/5 -
‘Tony Conrad: Completely
in the Present’
@ Third Man Cass Corridor -
This is the second-ever screening of a documentary film on one of the most influential musician/artists of the last century, Tony Conrad (1940-2016). Conrad made a film in the 1960s that caused the audience to hallucinate wildly using nothing more than oscillating splices of black and blank leader tape. The dude also named the Velvet Underground; collaborated with Faust in the early 197os; made some paintings that are meant to change color over decades; and was a collaborator with John Cale, Marian Zazeela, and La Monte Young in the original minimalist drone crew. Above all, he was a truly mischievous weirdo uninterested in fame or fortune.
Doors at 6 p.m., screening at 7 p.m.; 441 W. Canfield St., Detroit; 313-209-5205; $10.

Tuesday, 6/7 -
The John Doe
Rock ’n’ Roll Band
@ the Ark -
Yes, this is the guy from X, the Weavers, and countless understated film roles. Catch him now in Ann Arbor before he returns with X in August to perform that band’s first two records in their entirety at El Club in Mexicantown. Tonight he’s unleashing a modern take on older forms. Doe himself calls this outfit’s new album, The Westerner, a “psychedelic soul record from the Arizona desert.” Don’t you hate it when the artist can describe their own music better than you can?
Doors at 6:30 p.m.; 316 S. Main St., Ann Arbor; theark.org; $20.

Wednesday, 6/8 -
The Staves with
Trevor Sensor
@ the Pike Room -
The Staves are not just another English folk rock band. The three sisters produce a unique blend of three part vocal harmonies and smooth folk riffs with a tendency to get stuck in your head. They have performed alongside impressive names such as Bon Iver, Florence and the Machine, and played Glastonbury last year. Earlier this month they released the Sleeping In a Car EP, so be sure to show up and enjoy some brand new tunes.
Doors at 8 p.m.; 1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac; $15.
