Lives of the Poets (With Guitars)

While the idea that any singer-songwriter might also be called poets is quaint as heck in 2016, Ray Robertson is such a strong writer that his using on “13 outsiders who changed modern music” carries the premise through with humor and (most importantly) irreverence. That’s right, this is a book reading, from an already-acclaimed book about such heroes from the dark end of the street as Townes Van Zandt, Ronnie Lane, Rosetta Tharpe and the Ramones. It’s not an average reading though; Danny Kroha, Kelly Caldwell, Aran Ruth and other will sing songs by those poet-people.
