A nonprofit group called Zero Population Growth has just issued a report card grading U.S. cities on their ability to be “kid friendly,” and judging from the results, Detroit is a tough place to be a tot. Of the 25 major cities evaluated, we were scraping bottom with a 24th-place ranking. Only Atlanta, Ga., fared worse. The study looked at areas such as health, education, public safety and economics. Looking for a snide remark about all this? Search elsewhere, because News Hits is too damned depressed to kid around about this.
