Jeffrey Morgan’s Media Blackout

Everybody ... of all the columns in this series, this particular edition of Jeffrey Morgan's Media Blackout will remain with me the longest because ... not only is MB96 the latest column to appear ... but it's the last column I'll ever write. Thank you.

Phil Ochs – Rehearsals For Retirement (A&M): Look inside this gray box, there's some words for you to read. Been writing them for three years but I think it's time to leave. Maybe next week I'll regret not writing any more. But the records that I'm listening to these days are such a bore. And I'm sure that no one's gonna miss Media Blackout outside of a small circle of friends.

There's a local paper that has put me on its staff. Each week I write three hundred words for free to make you laugh. Maybe I should stick around and see if things improve. But I'm tired of entertaining and, besides, I've lost my groove. And I'm sure that no one's gonna miss Media Blackout outside of a small circle of friends.

Every week I read the letters section for feedback. But no one ever writes in about me, I'm just a hack. Maybe if my name was "Lessenberry" that might work. But they'd only spell it wrong and then I'd feel like such a jerk. And I'm sure that no one's gonna miss Media Blackout outside of a small circle of friends.

So this is the end, beautiful friend, this is the end. This is the end, my only friend, you won't see me again. Maybe I should think things over twice before I go. But I know when I'm not wanted so I'm gonna hit the road. And I'm sure that no one's gonna miss Media Blackout outside of a small circle of friends.

SNIVELING COP OUT OF THE WEEK:

David Bowie – "Farewell Speech" (Ziggy Stardust The Motion Picture) :: Hey, if old carrot top can change his mind about kicking it in the head and calling it quits, so can I. What, you didn't think you were gonna get rid of me that easily, didja?

Be seeing you!
