Inclusive Design Workshop And Book Signing With Kat Holmes

Author of Mismatch, Kat Holmes is a recognized expert in the growing field of inclusive design. She led Microsoft’s executive program for inclusive product innovation as the company’s Principal Director of Inclusive Design. Now at Google, Holmes continues to advance inclusion for some of the most influential technologies in the world. As a UNESCO City of Design, Design Core Detroit and College for Creative Studies are honored to host Kat Holmes to address a topic at the heart of Detroit’s Action Plan – inclusive design. Following her 9/19 talk for the CCS Toyota Lecture Series, Holmes will lead a workshop to define inclusive design, identifying cycles of exclusion in the design process, and exploring elegant solutions that lead to more equitable outcomes. Participants will receive a copy of her book* and join Holmes for a reception and book signing following the workshop. This event is officially part of the Detroit Month of Design program Agenda 9:00am Coffee and registration 9:30am Welcome and Recap 10:00am – 11:30am Workshop 11:30am – 1:00pm Book Signing and Luncheon Who should attend? This workshop is open to anyone interested in inclusive design, especially designers, industry leaders, policymakers, community leaders, educators, and high school and college students.
