Celebrated Detroit writer, professor, and Kresge Foundation Eminent Artist Award recipient Bill Harris takes on the Civil War in his latest collection of short stories. I Got to Keep Moving (published by Wayne State University Press) contains 25-interlinked stories spanning a cast of characters who are both pre- and post-Civil War, each one facing their respective circumstances while navigating their lives in the South. Written in three parts, I Got to Keep Moving is an exploration of preservation and memory, and aims to serve as source material for future conversations. To celebrate the launch, Harris will read from his latest collection and will be accompanied by musician and storyteller Rev. Robert Jones, Sr.
