Hiss Tracts is a collaboration between David Bryant of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Kevin Doria of Growing, and it’s extremely fucking weird. It would sound like a movie score, but it’s impossible to imagine a film twisted and freaky enough for this to fit. No, this shit is meant to stand alone — the experimental, orchestral, fuzzy, lo-fi results of two unique thinkers. The opening title track sounds very lush and ambient, quite nice, and then you hear strange bleatings coming from God-knows-where. Don’t listen by yourself in the dark — you’ll never recover. However, in the right setting and with the right mood, there’s some fascinating stuff going on here.
