Haflah Arab Fusion Fest

In Arabic, “Haflah” means “large festive party,” and that’s exactly what you’ll experience at Fusion Fest, an event that mixes the colorful instrumental sounds and rhythms of Arab music with traditional Western orchestra in a shared performance by the Michigan Philharmonic and the National Arab Orchestra. The idea, which was a 2013 Knights Art Challenge winner, is meant to celebrate the diverse cultural communities of Detroit and will feature a specially commissioned composition led by award-winning composers Kareem Roustom and Wael Binali.
