Green Sneakers and Echoes of the Depression

Chamber Music at the Scarab Club concludes its 21st season with another exciting collaboration with Michigan Opera Theatre! The featured work is Green Sneakers, a 60 minute song cycle, by Ricky Ian Gordon, who wrote the poetry as well as the music for this personal and moving piece. CMSC welcomes back the marvelous baritone, John Daugherty, violinists Laura Roelofs and Velda Kelly, violist Scott Stefanko and cellist Nadine Deleury. The program also includes a beautiful movement from Florence Price’s String Quartet in G Major, and the lively Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still.
