Gilda Snowden Beam Signing

Please join in celebrating Gilda Snowden’s life and legacy. The Scarab Club is honored to add Gilda’s signature to the beams of its second floor lounge. The signature is being painted by Detroit artist, Jerome Ferretti, and will be unveiled at 7 pm on Thursday, November 19th by Gilda’s husband and her daughter, William and Katherine Boswell. As an artist, teacher, mentor and friend Gilda Snowden had a profound impact on the Detroit arts community. The Scarab Club was fortunate to have her guidance as a member of its art advisory committee for more than a decade. One of her roles in that capacity was to help select which artists would be invited to sign the beams of the club’s historic lounge. Artists are selected to honor their “significant and lasting contributions to the arts and community of Detroit”. By that standard, few artists are more deserving than Gilda to have their names added to the signatures of such artists as Diego Rivera, Charles McGee and Tyree Guyton.
