Film Screening - American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock

This film takes a deep dive into the history of American punk rock from 1980 – 1986 and its cultural impact; tracing Hardcore’s initial beginnings in the United States with a mix of footage and insightful present-day interviews. Official selection from the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. This summer, Cranbrook Art Museum is offering programming in conjunction with our current exhibition, Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die: Punk Graphics, 1976-1986; exploring the unique visual language of the punk movement from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s through hundreds of its most memorable graphics–flyers, posters, albums, promotions, and zines.
