Precious Knowledge centers on the banning of the Mexican American Studies Program in the Tucson Unified School District of Arizona. The film follows the lives of four students and several teachers in the program as well as the progression of local legislation to ban the program. The film was awarded the Premio Mesquite for Best Documentary at the Cine Festival at the Guadalupe Cultural Art Center in San Antonio, Texas.
A screening of the 125-minute film will be followed by a discussion led by the U-M Community Scholars Program, cosponsors of this event. The film is not rated.
