Few can escape the clutches of American Idol-winner stigma. But contemporary R&B songstress, author, and Broadway star Fantasia has overcome and, 13 years later, has found new territory to conquer. Since her reality show win in 2004, Fantasia has released six studio records, exploring the gamut of R&B, gospel, and soul. Her latest, however, is a first for the singer. Christmas After Midnight is a collection of Christmas classics performed with Fantasia’s signature spin of raspy, soul-infused stylings. With a sleigh full of holiday spirit, Fantasia may even sprinkle her rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” in the mix for good measure.
