Now in its 28th iteration, the Detroit Music Awards returned to the Fillmore to honor some of the city's best musical talent. Winners included Greta Van Fleet, who nabbed awards for outstanding major-label recording, outstanding national single, and outstanding video from their major label debut Anthem of the Peaceful Army. Bluegrass band the RFD Boys and poet, activist, and former MC5 manager John Sinclair were honored with lifetime achievement awards. The crowd was also treated to performances by Sinclair, Frankie Ballard, Mosaic Youth Theatre, an Aretha Franklin tribute, Shortly, and Mike Skill of the Romantics.
