Don’t stop the presses

We thank Detroit Auditor General Joe Harris for giving us advance notice of his report on the city’s parks and recreational facilities, released for publication no sooner than Sept. 19. But with all due respect, the report’s a real flop. It simply states that Detroit’s parks are in shitty condition and that nearly everyone is unhappy about it. It also reminds us that the Parks and Recreation Department is grossly underfunded, by millions of dollars. I don’t know about you, but this Dorothy knew she wasn’t in Boston, San Francisco, Chicago or any other city with adequate or better parks and sports facilities. Now the real question is, what will our new mayor (Kilpatrick or Hill, take your pick) do about it?
