Dive bar becomes bona fide music venue

Sometimes booze just isn’t enough. No longer just a shot-and-a-beer joint, Small’s former life as an old man’s bar that touted a strange attraction to thirsty young hipsters is over. Once known as the perfect "after-show hangout," this little Hamtramck gem will now be supplying the show. Where Dumpsters once loomed and cheeseburgers were overcooked, the back room of Small’s has succumbed to the inevitable development of it’s rock ’n’ roll lineage to become one of the most impressive music venues our fair town has to offer. With excellent acoustics and a professional stage set-up and PA, it seems that owner Jeff King knows how to please the masses. No worries, purists — those who aren’t interested in the show needn’t listen, as Small’s has soundproofed the new edition. It’s your old Small’s with a new offering; check it out at 10339 Conant, Hamtramck. Call 313-873-1117 for further information.
