Detroit photographer makes leap from Instagram to billboards

Keep your eyes peeled for the billboards featuring the work of local photographer Tony Majka.

The photographer, perhaps better known as @tonydetroit to his 382,000 Instagram followers, was selected by 1800 Tequila to feature his work in a new advertising campaign, which includes 15 billboards around Detroit.

According to an interview with the Detroit Free Press, Majka, 43, has a day job testing cars off the assembly line for Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles. His photos of Detroit made him an early star on the social media app Instagram, which he started using five years ago.

You can spot the first of the billboards featuring Majka's work at East 8 Mile and Charleston Street. For now, check out some of Majka's photos posted to 1800 Tequila's Instagram below:
