Detroit ’67 is an original play by local artist Dominique Morisseau that has gained national attention since its debut. The play won the Kennedy Prize for drama inspired by American history in 2014. Morisseau graduated with a BFA in acting from the University of Michigan and was inspired by the riots that happened in 1967. It was originated at the Public Theatre in New York City and is the first of a three-part cycle of plays inspired by the writer’s hometown.
