Well, that was quick. Fall is here, which means we Detroiters are getting ready to retreat indoors while we wait for the spring thaw. Fortunately, there's plenty going on in our art galleries, museums, theaters, and more to keep us occupied and inspired.

Detroit Month of Design

• Junior League of Detroit Designer's Show House: The historic Charles T. Fisher Mansion has been transformed by nationally recognized and local interior designers, with each room featuring a different design. Tours available through Oct. 7 at 670 W. • Eastern Market After Dark: Annual open studio and gallery crawl. More than 30 studios and galleries will open late throughout Eastern Market, with interactive experiences, brand activations, designer spotlights, installations, and parties. • Picnic: A site-specific installation by Campo Studio (Fernando Bales & Elise DeChard) that blurs the lines "between object, architecture, and the field in between" through a series of mobile furniture armatures. • Workshop: In the Art Field With Polina Vasilyeva: Standing Still, Lying Down, As If artist and designer Polina Vasilyeva will conduct a performative workshop by using the perimeter of the museum gallery as a stage. Workshop is at 1 p.m. on Oct. 27.
