Dear Darkness is opening for Olivia Neutron-John, the theatrical electronic project of the heavily talented performer Anna Nasty. ONJ refers to herself as “a non-binary-post-bro one person music/dance declaration of war on the accepted,” which — holy hell, that’s excellent! Definitely get there early to see Shells with Tyler Hicks, then don’t even go outside to smoke because you might miss a second of the performance by Dear Darkness. D.D. is two people, Stacey MacLeod on vocals and guitar, plus drummer Samantha Linn. They just recorded an EP with Jim Diamond called I Only Came Here to Dance. Their music is moody and heavy and intense and guitar-driven. It’s equal parts theater major and art school, with both T. Rex and Siouxsie impulses locked down tight. If they lived in Brooklyn, New York or Los Angeles., they’d be hugely famous already.
