After premiering in late 2013, ChrisMastersDance has reconstructed Evergreen for tour. Using the original prompts and tactics, the dance was recreated in collaboration with composer Jon Anderson. This work deconstructs Barrie’s Peter Pan, finding underpinning within elements of sexuality, narcissism, forgetfulness, memory, and suspended liminality through lush, intricate phrase work and highly physical partnering. The dance aims to understand how reliance on digital currency functions as an artificial mother, providing love and encouragement in a draught of real connection. Resulting in a series of violent momentary interactions, they create a world where time functions as antagonist.
