Maintaining its hot streak, Detroit newcomer Reyes Projects is opening a solo exhibition from New York-based artist Charles Andresen on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Andresen, the 2015 resident of the Elaine de Kooning House, is a bit of a legend in the New York art scene, having famously been a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 25 years.
Andresen’s exhibition, titled Detroit Red, showcases the artist’s tactile, impressive throw paintings. His work is dense and arresting, a lush presentation resulting from flinging viscous acrylic paints at his canvasses. It will be presented on the gallery's upper level.
