If spring is here, then Alley Culture can’t be far behind. This Detroit gallery project rooted deeply in the global scene opens “Honor the Earth Biennial V” — another in its ongoing investigations of the interfaces of art, culture and ecology — on Saturday, April 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. Featuring work by artists Miriam Bloom, Carl Butler, Robert Flynn, Mathew Hanna and Sherry Hendrick, the show runs through May 19, with viewing hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 6 p.m. But there’ll also be a “Bucket Circle Preview Night” on Friday the 20th at 8 p.m., to which you’re invited to “Bring your 5-gallon bucket and drum stick.” The purpose will be to use “technology’s refuse as a method to connect with the earth.” Alley Culture is the red building south of Willis in the alley between Trumbull and Lincoln. And for further connection with the greater totality, check out the “Earth Day Concert” by poet-rocker Mick Vranich & Detroit Crew at 10 p.m., Sunday at the Cass Cafe (4620 Cass, Detroit — call 313-831-1400).
