Best Reason to Have Hope for Metro Detroit

Sure, everybody's making fun of millennials these days, that they're the tousled-hair special little snowflakes brought up in a no-zeroes, trophies-for-all fantasyland that demands near-constant validation and rewards for any effort. Whatever. We're just thrilled about a generation of people that hasn't inherited the destructive myths of how Detroit got where it is. What's more, this racially diverse young generation is more likely to eschew cars, embrace density, value walkability and bikability, and open small businesses, a cohort tailor-made for Detroit. What's more, it's a generation raised on the Internet and often better educated, meaning really inquisitive younger folks are more likely to get their answers about Detroit's plight from Thomas Sugrue than Uncle Sal. This generation is smarter than you think.
