The always-goofy Jerry Vile ruffled a few feathers when he placed a giant can of Crisco in front of the famous Joe Louis fist as a statement against his feelings on Detroit’s situation in bankruptcy court: It’s getting it up the wazoo. Except, the local Fox affiliate didn’t get the joke, writing of Vile at the time in a kinder sentiment, that “it may in someway ease the pain of having the Detroit bankruptcy shoved into our faces.” Har har. Vile also made a point to showcase the potential fire sale of city assets by placing DayGlo “Going Out of Business” signs on famous landmarks. The city didn’t take too kindly to Vile’s statement, but our readers did.
