What’s known as Northern-style cornbread is generally sweeter and lighter than the dense and crumbly Southern style. Red Crown truly does the North justice, baking bread with a light texture and sweet, delicate corn flavor. This divine cornbread is then expertly hidden from the diners, served only as a couple small pieces accompanying brisket and ribs — a far cry from the recognition it deserves. Order a side for $3, with any dish on the menu. Really. The food is uniformly well-made, the service is friendly, and the drinks are delightful — but the cornbread is simply stellar, and worth a visit on its own.
