Pop-ups have proliferated in Detroit for the last few years, but recently there has been a health department crackdown that put a damper on the scene. Fortunately, Revolver opened its doors late last year to satisfy diners’ cravings for the ever new and changing. The restaurant hosts different (revolving) chefs every Friday and Saturday night, and customers purchase advance tickets online and bring their own beverages. The result is a cool, communal dining experience that goes beyond whatever food is on that night’s menu. At a dinner there last October, we quickly made friends with tablemates, sharing wine and stories along with an expertly prepared five-course meal. No matter which chef’s dinner you buy tickets for, a memorable evening is all but guaranteed.
