Best Local Painter

Jerry Vile

Vile, creator of the widly popular Dirty Show, stirred up a media circus last fall when he draped “For Sale” signs across some of Detroit’s historic landmarks as a statement about the city’s historic bankruptcy. Vile’s annual show is open to public submissions, but also handpicked artists, something he told us earlier this year always rides on talent — “Talent always wins,” he says.

(Sorry, no information is currently available for other years in this same award category.)
