We're so in love with Eastern Market, and grateful that we can go to this storied Detroit institution (around for 150 years!) every Saturday of the year. The seasonal crafts are nice, but we go for fresh produce: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, duck eggs, spinach, garlic, and walnuts. Contrary to popular opinion, we find that we actually pay less money when we do as much of our shopping there as possible, than when we shop at a supermarket. There are also a surprising number of vendors of locally made packaged goods, from fresh salsa and honey to wild-caught salmon and this really cool pasta substitute made from chickpeas.
