Lots of places offer Polish food, but only in Hamtramck will you get a taste of “the old neighborhood” with your pierogies. To step down into Polish Village’s dining area is to step back into another era, when that postage stamp-sized city-within-a-city was jammed with Polish autoworkers and every restaurant had a portrait of FDR on the wall. The prices seem stuck in the past as well, as $8.95 will get you a “Polish plate” that will leave you drowsy with food.
