America’s Thanksgiving Parade

we all know this cavalcade down Woodward Avenue is really about Christmas — Santa Claus’ grand arrival ends the parade after all. This year the parade’s theme is “So Happy Together” and Tim Allen will act as grand marshal to the parade of 25 floats, 13 bands, seven balloons, and 150 papier-mache big heads. Celebrity guests include former Detroit Tiger Willie Horton, Liz Hernandez, Crystal Dunn, Ali Krieger, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and the cast of Jersey Boys. Those hoping to enjoy the parade in person can pop a squat anywhere along the three-mile parade route down Woodward Avenue, but it can be enjoyed at home just as well. It’s broadcast in 150 cities across the country.
