Alvvays

Melody-driven Toronto-based outfit Alvvays shimmers and shines. Its 2014 self-titled debut record hit No. 1 on the U.S. college chart, which makes total sense considering its hazy, beach makeout vibes pair well with playful ennui. Just last month, the band dropped Antisocialites, a sharper and more refined blend of dream pop that perfectly encapsulates that wistful transition from freshman to forlorn graduate.

Doors open at 8 p.m.; 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-9700; Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 day of show.
