Multi-media artist and writer Juliana Huxtable to talk at MOCAD

Artist, writer, performer, and DJ Juliana Huxtable is all about shock value — just not how you might think. Huxtable is co-founder of Shock Value, a weekly New York City-based nightlife collective run by women creatives. From Afrofuturism to science fiction and the American paranoia epidemic, Huxtable’s work is a fearless, observational deep dive into the importance of digital spaces and the intersections of race, gender, and identity. Huxtable stops by the MOCAD to deliver a lecture about her practice and inspiration.

Juliana Huxtable will deliver a talk at MOCAD on Thursday, Dec. 7; 4454 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-832-6622; mocadetroit.org; event begins at 7 p.m.; admission is free with a suggested donation of $5.
