This weekend, an event billed as The Women's Convention will take place at Detroit's Cobo Center. While some have criticized the event for what they say are prohibitive ticket prices ($295 for all three days), others might be pleased to note the event is will also feature a "Social Justice Concert" with more reasonable ticket price at $20.
The concert will be held as part of the event on Saturday, Oct. 28. The lineup features national and local artists, including headliners Melanie Fiona and Alice Smith. Representing Detroit, BombaRica, V Bozeman, Jessica Care Moore, and DJs from local feminist group the Seraphine Collective will also perform.
The Women's Convention will feature speakers U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Rep. Brenda Lawrence, Rep. Debbie Dingell, Stephanie Chang, Raquel Castañeda Lopez, Rashida Tlaib, and many others.
Doors open at 8 p.m. ET and tickets are available here.
