The Empowerment Plan is a Detroit-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless community by creating jobs that lift individuals out of poverty. They hire parents from homeless shelters nearby and train them to be seamstresses — the team manufactures a coat that can transform to a coat during the day and sleeping bag at night.

You can learn more about the group and offer support at their third annual fundraiser. The event features locally made food and drinks, along with live entertainment.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday Nov.12 at the the Chase Building, 611 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets are $40, (VIP $125), and available for purchase here.
